If you read the notification carefully, you'll see that it saves your data to the linked Google Drive account. WhatsApp routinely asks you if you want to back up your chat history if you don't already. If you were to simply shift to a new Android phone from an Android phone or just shift between iOS devices, then simply set up your account (provided the number is still the same) would give you access to old chats. This is why you can't access one from the other. On iOS devices it uses iCloud and on Android devices, it uses Google Drive. WhatsApp does not store your backup chat messages on its server. I just want a comparison of these apps mainly if anyone has experience.Part 1: Why Can't You Retrieve WhatsApp Chat History on iPhone?īefore we dive into how you can transfer WhatsApp messages from android to iPhone, let's go over why you can't just log in to your WhatsApp and restore the backups. The longer story of this phone is too long really. I've read how to do backups to external drives using a Terminal hack, but that only works if you've backed up locally before, which I have not. They seem to see all my photos which Image Capture/Photos/Preview do not. Wondering if there is a "best" before I forge ahead? I downloaded free trials of all these apps, and they all seem very similar. I can't do an iTunes backup (if it would even work) because the storage on my Mac is also 256 GB, so not enough room to spare. It will not show up in image capture, even before it got slow Image Capture would either show nothing or a few photos at a time. I've deleted everything I'm willing to delete. It's been a lemon since I got it in so many ways. I can open the photos app and see everything, but it's equally slow. It's not broken (that I know of), but opening the phone app for example takes minutes. I could give a really long back story, but the short is I have an iPhone 7 that barely works.
